El Edificio de departamentos Tomás se ubica en un barrio residencial de Santiago de Chile frente al la Plaza Turquía en la Comuna de Vitacura.
La operación inmobiliaria consistió en una operación atípica, en vez de vender departamentos se vendieron metros cuadrados. Cada propietario compró los metros cuadrados necesarios para desarrollar, por encargo, el departamento apropiado a su programa y a sus necesidades; así una familia privilegió una gran terraza abierta a la plaza con una cubierta habitable que albergara una piscina y lograra vistas a los cerros del norte tras los árboles de la plaza; otro propietario optó por un patio protegido de la vía pública como extensión de su departamento; un tercero, un hombre soltero optó por un pequeño departamento en torno a un espacio de doble altura, y así, cada uno de los siete departamentos tiene su propio carácter.
De planta rectangular, consta de tres pisos totales y un cuarto piso retirado que permite la utilización de los techos como terrazas y piscinas.
El volumen del edificio contiene un vacío central que es el lugar de acceso a los departamentos. Un espacio bañado de luz cenital activado por las circulaciones horizontales en cada nivel a la manera de balcones.
Siete departamentos conforman el edificio con la particularidad de ser todos distintos tanto en sus programas, distribuciones y metrajes. Cada departamento tiene al menos dos niveles y se accede a cada uno por un espacio de doble altura. De esta manera, el edificio en planta y en corte es una sucesión de espacios intercalados.
El volumen del edificio no acusa los límites de cada departamento hacia el exterior. Se muestra como una composición hecha desde la suma de distintos llenos y vacíos de: ventanas, terrazas, vanos, vigas, etc. que refieren al espacio interior del edificio. Las zonas de servicio se dispusieron al interior del edificio a través de patios a la manera de grietas de luz y ventilación. Así, hacia el exterior dan sólo ventanas y terrazas correspondientes a las zonas habitables de cada departamento.
El único elemento que unifica a los departamentos es la materialidad y las terminaciones. Se optó por una textura exterior única completamente blanca, un solo material que refuerza la idea del edificio como volumen íntegro. Los interiores del edificio también son enteramente blancos, permitiendo una mayor luminosidad, reflejando la luz lateral y cenital. Las puertas, ventanas, muebles en obra y carpinterías son de madera de cedro; así, el blanco y la madera son los elementos unificadores.

The Tomas Building is located in a residential neighborhood in Santiago facing the Isabel Montt plaza in the District of Vitacura.
The investment operation consists in an atypical operation; instead of selling apartments sell square meters. Each owner buy the square meters for develop by order the apartment for the program of they needs… a family favored a big terrace with plaza views and a habitable roof with a pool and views to the north hills; other owner choose a protected garden as extension for his apartment; a third owner, a single men get a small loft and this way each apartment have a different character.
With a rectangular floor plan, it consists of three complete floors and a fourth floor which is set back allowing the use of the roofs as terraces and swimming pools.
The volume of the building contains a central void which is the entrance space to the apartments from the center of the building. A space bathed in natural light from above and activated by the horizontal circulations on each level in the manner of balconies.
Seven apartments conform the building with the special condition being that they are all different, both regarding their programs and their square footage. Each apartment has at least two levels and each one is accessed through a double height space.
The building in floor and in section is a succession of inserted spaces.
The volume of the building does not recognize the limits of each apartment on the exterior. It displays itself as a composition assembled on the basis of adding different opaque planes and voids of: windows, terraces, openings, beams, etc. that talk about the interior space.
The services zones were distribute in the interior of the building being patios as the manner of cracks of light and ventilation. For the exterior appear only windows and terraces of the habitable zones of each apartment.
The only element that unifies all the apartments is the materiality and the terminations. Only one white material reinforces the idea of a unique volume. The interiors also are entirely white that permits more luminosity, reflecting the light. Doors, windows and carpentries were in cedar wood. The white and the wood were the unify elements.
